Who we are,

Kare Afrika (KAO) is nonprofit civil society organization founded in 2016 by Mr. MAGALA GRACE who is educated, dynamic, talented, development centered and empathetic with the mandate of empowering humanity with knowledge, skills, information, protection, survival and development of total orphans, street kids and vulnerable youth in the communities of Uganda. Kare Afrika is based in Kabuuma parish– Makindye Ssabagabo Division Wakiso District, Uganda.

Mission:
To empower vulnerable people with knowledge, skills, spiritual mindset and information for social, economic, psychological and emotional development, wellbeing and self-sustainability

Our Goal is to contribute to the protection, development and survival of the vulnerable children, youth and women in difficult circumstances.

The Objectives of Kare Afrika (KAO) are:-
1. To support the access of the disadvantage children and youth to quality education.
2. Empower and transform the lives of vulnerable people in communities through information, knowledge and skills development for self-reliance
3. Support parents and guardians through building their capacity in entrepreneurship and income generating to support their families.
4. Promote Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health, prevention and protection of HIV transmission among young people in communities.
5. To promote the right to health, good hygiene and sanitation of the vulnerable children and youth in the community.
6. To raise the awareness and protection of the environment by the young people.
7. To rehabilitate and improve the welfare of the children and youth who have been traumatized by early bereavement, abuse and exploitation.
8. To work with Donors, other NGO’s, CBO’s, local governments and central government to bring about an environment conducive to the development of the children and youth trough human rights education and awareness.
9. To advocate for children’s rights.
10. To act as the genesis for Talent development.


Beneficiaries/ Target group:
The target beneficiaries of Kare Afrika are the vulnerable children’s including total orphans, children with single parent. Vulnerable families and refugees.

What we do:
1. Education and sponsorship:

We promote the right to education of vulnerable children by providing them with tuition, scholastic materials, and other school requirements for them to keep in school, study and complete their studies. Monitor the performances and progress of the supported children. Pen pal project between Kare Afrika children and those in the schools in the Western countries

2. Skills, Life skills and Talent development: We empower, support, mentor and nurture young people and women with gainful hands on applicable self and employable skills for their livelihood, development and self-reliance. We build the capacity of young people to participate in personal m, community development. Raise awareness about young people’s importance in the development of their families, community, country and the world. We do identify, reawaken and develop the talents of young people for personal advances. Skills promoted include among others are:- Music, dance, drama, poetry, art and craft making, sports,, tailoring, hairdressing, computer training and others as resources may allow.

3. Health, hygiene and sanitation promotion: The right to health of children is paramount and is being promoted. We support vulnerable young people with health care, educate them about good health, hygiene and sanitation. Health issues include HIV/AIDS/STD Prevention, sexual reproductive health, Malaria prevention and treatment adherence and conduct health camps.

4. Community Economic Empowerment: Kare Afrika trains, educates and support the community in economic development. We support with income generating activities, train saving culture, conduct trainings in areas of economic issues.

5. Human rights promotion: We are encouraging, promoting, training and sensitization of people in the community and schools about human rights, democracy, leadership and accountability. Some of these include peace building, leadership, conflict resolution and management.

Future plans:
Given the over whelming number of vulnerable children who need care, support and development, there need for strategies and plans to address and create opportunities for the young persons. The proposed strategies and plans by KARE AFRIKA include the following:

1. Creating more partnership and networking with interested and willing individuals, companies, churches and organizations.
2. Increased fundraising strategies through proposal and concept writing to prospective donors
3. Establishing a boarding primary school, church and health centre.
